In recent weeks, LEGO, the universally celebrated building block company, has thrilled fans with the introduction of multiple creative sets. With releases ranging from the enchanting Hocus Pocus cottage set, to an ocean-ready Jaws set, and even a highly detailed, 4,000-piece replica of Batman Returns’ Batcave, excitement for LEGO’s offerings is at an all-time high. But the anticipation has only just begun. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, LEGO disclosed more intriguing surprises, unveiling three brand new Star Wars sets and two Sonic the Hedgehog Brickheadz sets. Fans can expect to get their hands on these exhilarating builds starting September 1st.
For followers of the fast-paced world of Sonic, LEGO has crafted an opportunity to bring the beloved azure hedgehog to life. A 139-piece figure, standing just over three inches tall (approximately 8 cm.), is armed with the iconic gold ring intrinsic to the Sonic universe. Paired with Sonic, Miles “Tails” Prower – the clever, wrench-wielding fox – is also available. Tails, a 131-piece figure, stands roughly the same height as Sonic. Each figure is conveniently complemented with a baseplate, simplifying display needs. Both the Sonic and Tails figures are set to retail at a pocket-friendly price of $9.99.
In addition to the Sonic Brickheadz, LEGO is launching three Star Wars sets that promise to immerse fans into the intricately detailed LEGO galaxy. These sets spotlight Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, a fierce New Republic E-Wing versus Shin Hati’s Starfighter set, and a figure of Chewbacca, everyone’s favorite Wookiee. Ahsoka’s shuttle, a comprehensive 599-piece set, brings a piece of the action-packed Star Wars universe right into fans’ hands. This model doesn’t skimp on details, with a LEGO minifigure cockpit, retractable landing gear, dual weapons and tools storage compartments, and a pair of stud shooters. The shuttle set includes four minifigures: Ahsoka, Sabine Wren, Marrok, and Professor Huyang, all equipped with lightsabers, blasters, and more. This set can be yours for $79.99.
Joining the Jedi Shuttle is another Ahsoka-themed set, the E-Wing vs. Starfighter. This set invites fans to stage their epic LEGO galactic chase. Comprising a total of 1,056 pieces, this set boasts features similar to Ahsoka’s shuttle such as a minifigure cockpit, stud shooters, retractable landing gear, and storage for weapons and tools. Included in this set are four minifigures and a New Astromech Droid. The E-Wing has extra space behind the cockpit for Captain Porter’s droid. This exciting set retails at $109.99.
The final Star Wars release celebrates the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi with a new Chewbacca figure. This sizable figure, made up of 2,319 pieces, depicts Chewie wielding his signature bowcaster. A minifigure version and an informational plaque are included in the set. The primary Chewbacca figure stands at a commanding height of 18 inches once assembled. Available at a retail price of $199.99, it’s a must-have for every Star Wars enthusiast. César Carvalhosa Soares, Senior Designer at the LEGO Group, expressed his joy about this project, stating, “Designing Chewie in all his glory was one of my favourite projects so far – it was a great challenge to capture his full body of hair in brick-form!”
LEGO’s Double-Feature Ahsoka Sets Amp Up Excitement
The unveiling of two Ahsoka-themed sets has further fueled the hype surrounding Disney+’s forthcoming series “Ahsoka”. The show, scheduled to premiere on August 23, stars Rosario Dawson as the titular character. The narrative follows the older, ex-Jedi as she uncovers a galactic threat. The show’s cast includes Hayden Christensen, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Eman Esfandi, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, the late Ray Stevenson, David Tennant, Ivanna Sakhno, Genevieve O’Reilly, Dianna Lee Inosanto, and Lars Mikkelsen.
These LEGO sets, capturing the essence of beloved characters and timeless stories, are set to officially launch on September 1st. Fans of LEGO, Sonic, and Star Wars alike can look forward to creating and displaying these unique and engaging builds. Stay tuned for more updates and sneak peeks.
