For seven enthralling seasons, the characters of The CW’s Riverdale have navigated myriad timelines, facing off against threats ranging from serial killers to supernatural entities and grueling life in the 1950s. The likes of Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, and others have left a lasting imprint on viewers. Despite the detailed arcs of these characters, there’s one lingering enigma: Angel Tabitha Tate. Sadly, her journey ends on an unfulfilling note, making the case for a dedicated spin-off.
Immediate Adoration for Tabitha
The timeline shift of seven years post their high school days saw our beloved characters return to a changed Riverdale. The narrative introduced Tabitha Tate, who ventured to Riverdale to inherit Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, turning away from her prior life. Swiftly, audiences connected with her, appreciating her resilience against adversities and championing her as Riverdale’s beacon, especially when the malevolent Percival Pickens marked his entry.
The Unfair Treatment of Tabitha in Season 7
Season 7 witnessed an egregious oversight in Tabitha’s storyline. After prolonged absences, Angel Tabitha makes her return, unraveling the tangled timelines, albeit unable to revert things to how they once were. Yet, she offers the town its memories, only to depart shortly after, never to be seen or acknowledged. Her personal sacrifices, including leaving behind her love, Jughead, and forsaking her existence, go woefully unrecognized. Moreover, her ’50s counterpart’s journey too lacks depth, with no culmination of her blooming romance with Jughead.
Tabitha’s Deserved Spin-off: A Hopeful Prospect
This glaring oversight necessitates a spin-off dedicated to Tabitha, whose character’s depth and trajectory were stifled in the primary series. Despite her sacrifices, her narrative concludes on an ambiguous note, whereas we witness the fates of other characters. Angel Tabitha’s compassionate nature combined with her supernatural prowess presents an enticing canvas for a spin-off, possibly exploring her journey across timelines or universes, presenting her with the happiness she so rightfully deserves. The expansive Archie Comics’ universe can be utilized or even an entirely new narrative can be carved for this unique character. The gross oversight of not providing closure or recognition to Angel Tabitha’s sacrifices and contributions in Riverdale’s final season is indefensible. Her story yearns for its due respect, possibly through a Riverdale spin-off that pays homage to her legacy. Until such justice is delivered, fans will undoubtedly remain dismayed.
Note: For fans keen on reminiscing or catching up, every episode of Riverdale Season 7 is set to stream on Netflix come August 31.
