Roughly two years since audiences first met the ironclad character Jack Reacher, played by Alan Ritchson, the bell rings for the second round on Prime Video. The streaming service unveiled today, through a sneak-peek video, that the popular action series Reacher, an adaptation of Lee Child’s widely acclaimed series of books, will grace their platform again this December. A brief snippet in this video highlights that Ritchson’s Reacher, with his usual hardboiled approach, resumes probing the deaths of his former military colleagues.
This planned launch aligns perfectly with what Vernon Sanders, the Head of Television at Amazon Studios, announced in the previous year. He expressed enormous enthusiasm for Season 2, insisting that it not only parallels but also surpasses the action-laden Season 1 that encapsulated the storyline of Child’s first novel Killing Floor. Season 2 shifts the narrative to the eleventh book in the series, Bad Luck and Trouble, and casts our muscular protagonist into a conspiracy murdering his old military comrades. The investigation into this plot pulls him away from his travels, as a shared code of honor binds him to his fellow servicemen. The scheme he uncovers may have even more devastating implications. By February, filming of this season concluded, and if the shared clip from Prime Video is any indicator, the stakes are escalating, with the action becoming fiercer and more brutal.
Amazon’s Reacher series has been a resounding success, leaving the company overwhelmed. It achieved a quick renewal after skyrocketing into Prime Video’s top five most-watched series in just days after its initial release. Amazon even seeks to win over non-Prime Video subscribers by offering the first season on Freevee, a free ad-sponsored streaming service, along with several other originals.
Who Are the New Additions for Reacher Season 2?
Aiming to make Season 2 grander and more engaging, Reacher has incorporated several fresh faces to blend into the new scenario. Maria Sten will reprise her role as Frances Neagley, Reacher’s ex-colleague, with the remaining regulars comprised of new members such as Rory Cochrane as Shane Langston, Ferdinand Kingsley as the intriguing A.M., and Serinda Swan as Karla Dixon. They will be joined by Shaun Sipos from Outer Range, portraying David O’Donnell. Guest appearances for Season 2 will feature Domenick Lombardozzi as Guy Russo, Luke Bilyk as Calvin Franz, Dean McKenzie as Stan Lowery, Edsson Morales as Manuel Orozco, Andrés Collantes as Jorge Sanchez, Shannon Kook as Tony Swan, Ty Olsson as Saropian, Josh Blacker as Hortense Fields, and Al Sapienza as Marsh.
Reacher is set to make its much-anticipated return to Prime Video this December for Season 2. This is just one of several high-profile releases that the streaming service has in its pipeline to conclude this year, including the spinoff of The Boys, Gen V, Good Omens Season 2, Donald Glover’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith series, and the original film Red, White & Royal Blue, among other offerings.
