Notable Hollywood actor Johnny Depp, renowned for his performance in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, is seemingly willing to reconnect with Disney, a source intimate with the actor purportedly affirmed. This news, courtesy of PEOPLE, indicates that Depp might not completely rule out the possibility of participating in future Disney productions, potentially even a new installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, contradicting his earlier assertions that he would never return.

It seems that the once distant possibility of Depp’s return to Disney’s big screens has now subtly shifted into the realm of reality.

“Anything is possible. If it’s the right project, he’ll do it.”

In recent times, Depp’s illustrious acting career has seen a series of setbacks due to the legal turbulence surrounding his marriage to Aquaman star, Amber Heard. This period was marked by a slew of lawsuits, including a defamation case Depp launched against Heard, which he won, and a libel suit against UK tabloid The Sun, which he unfortunately lost.

This stormy period witnessed Depp’s departure from the Harry Potter spinoff franchise, Fantastic Beasts, with his role in the latest release, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, filled by Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen. There were also rumors of Disney planning to reprise the Pirates of the Caribbean saga without Depp’s legendary character, Jack Sparrow.

During his defamation lawsuit, Depp expressed his strong determination not to collaborate with Disney again. “The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film? Correct?” Amber Heard’s attorney, Ben Rottenborn, interrogated Depp during the court proceedings in April 2021. “That is true, Mr. Rottenborn,” Depp asserted.

According to the aforementioned insider, Depp’s hardened stance towards the studio seems to be thawing, suggesting the possibility of Jack Sparrow’s legendary voyages on the high seas being rekindled for audiences worldwide.

Does Disney Aspire for Johnny Depp’s Comeback in Pirates of the Caribbean 6?

Although there are currently no official plans for a new Pirates of the Caribbean project, there were whispers of a reboot helmed by Barbie actress Margot Robbie. However, these plans are said to have been shelved, leaving the multibillion-dollar franchise in uncertain waters. This news of Depp’s potential openness to re-engage with Disney follows a recent revelation by The New York Times where producer Sean Bailey hinted that the studio is subtly “opening the door ajar” for Depp’s potential comeback.

Pirates of the Caribbean’s avid fanbase isn’t the only one clamoring for Jack Sparrow’s return. Renowned producer Jerry Bruckheimer also emphasized the indispensability of the character for any future sequels. “Johnny is exceptional at what he does. Actors are resilient, and they recover from life’s upheavals,” Bruckheimer stated earlier this year. “He’s a compassionate individual, and he’s reliable. He’s truly amazing. Despite his personal struggles, Johnny’s talents remain undiminished.”

While the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise remains uncertain, fans can look forward to seeing Johnny Depp gracing the big screen as Louis XV in Jeanne du Barry. The film is slated for a theatrical release in the United States by Vertical Entertainment.
