The latest sneak peek has just served up an enticing view of the thrilling sequences expected in the upcoming Season 2 of Loki. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson) are seen pursuing Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) through the winding paths of the multiverse. All the while, they’re trying to stave off the looming menace presented by Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). Sylvie’s impulsive, emotion-fuelled choice to extinguish He Who Remains, the sentinel at the boundary of time, in the last season’s climax has set off a ripple of reactions, both minor and significant. The trailer also teases the arrival of fresh faces, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe gears up its multiverse storyline in Phase 5, which is expected to culminate in two upcoming Avengers films – The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
Adding to the intrigue, the teaser unveils the reappearance of Jonathan Majors as Victor Timely—the version of He Who Remains who made a dramatic entrance during the post-credits sequence of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Despite prior knowledge that Majors would be reprising this role in the series, his presence in the trailer, especially in the wake of his March arrest, still packs a surprise punch. It will be compelling to see how Season 2 lays the groundwork for the Kang-centric future that prompted Marvel to overhaul its strategy, and whether they intend to proceed with it.
Marvel Studios, through its D23 footage, confirmed that eight characters from the MCU will be back in Loki Season 2. Kevin Feige, in May 2022, proclaimed that the “entire cast” from the first season is slated for a return. This gives audiences an opportunity to relish more of Hiddleston’s Loki, Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Ravonna Renslayer, Tara Strong’s Miss Minutes, Wilson’s Mobius M. Mobius, Di Martino’s Sylvie, and Eugene Cordero’s Casey/Hunter K-5E.
So, Who’s Making an Appearance in Loki Season 2’s Confirmed Cast?
The Loki ensemble is set to be invigorated by several newcomers to the MCU. Rafael Casal’s vital yet unnamed role for this season was officially unveiled in July. Kate Dickie, known for Game of Thrones, is also on board for a yet-to-be-disclosed role in Season 2, with conjecture hinting towards a villainous character. It’s entirely plausible that the series could welcome more characters from the Marvel universe — or even their variants, thereby amplifying the multiverse motif. This possibility aligns with the pivotal role Loki Season 2 is anticipated to play in establishing the Marvel Multiverse.
Mark your calendars! Loki Season 2 is slated to hit Disney+ on October 6, 2023. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse of the excitement in the trailer below:
