Production is officially underway for “Deadpool 3,” triggering an avalanche of social media content from its stars, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. This dynamic duo has been teasing this eagerly awaited addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for some time now, heightening fan expectations with the news of Deadpool’s return to the big screen, this time in the company of Wolverine. It’s hardly an exaggeration to say that this movie is among the most eagerly awaited releases in the MCU pipeline and carries the potential to disappoint fans, given its high stakes.
The MCU has recently seen its share of disruptions, with films being delayed, scripts undergoing revisions, and some projects being completely removed from the slate. Amid this uncertainty, “Deadpool 3” has seemingly sailed smoothly, and now that filming has commenced, enthusiasts of Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine have been treated to early glimpses from the sets, escalating the already palpable buzz surrounding the movie.
The Mirror has treated fans to some captivating images of Reynolds in full Deadpool attire, engrossed in a car wreck scene. Simultaneously, Jackman is shown savouring a waffle topped with mushrooms and some kind of marinara sauce, much to the chagrin of his countless admirers.
There’s still a significant wait ahead until the film hits the theaters, allowing ample time for conjecture about potential guest appearances and plot details. But one thing’s for certain – “Deadpool 3” promises to be a no-holds-barred, R-rated extravaganza that could emerge as one of MCU’s blockbuster hits in recent memory.
Wolverine’s Role in the MCU: What to Expect?
While the MCU has plans to introduce a new Wolverine at some point, the focus for now is on Hugh Jackman’s unexpected return as one of the most adored characters to have ever graced a Marvel movie. Fans expecting the same old Wolverine, however, might be in for a surprise. According to Ryan Reynolds, we are about to witness a stark departure from the Wolverine we’ve come to know and love, offering a novel interpretation of the character.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, Reynolds shared:
“We’ve wanted to this this for decades…it’s weirdly the perfect time. I never stopped [trying to get him to come back as Wolverine]. I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I believe in timing, as much as hard work and luck and all those intersections that are supposed to meet. Timing’s the big one. I think he was ready. I think he was excited. And what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”
“Deadpool 3” is set to carve its own unique niche within the Marvel Studios’ interconnected franchise, largely owing to its R-rating. Whether this marks the inception of a more adult-oriented branch of the MCU remains to be seen, but it’s a possibility that seems tantalizingly on the horizon.
