Broadening its diverse entertainment catalog, Apple TV+ recently announced the premiere date for its forthcoming animation series, Strange Planet. This fascinating program emerges from the beloved webcomic, Strange Planet, originally penned by Nathan W. Pyle. Before its transformation into a graphic novel, the webcomic gained considerable popularity across numerous social media platforms. Apple TV+ is all geared up to release Strange Planet on Aug. 9, 2023, followed by the airing of new episodes every subsequent Wednesday. This debut season packs 10 engrossing episodes, each offering a delightful peek into the lives and daily pursuits of the alien “entities.”

Nathan Pyle: From Webcomic Fame to Executive Producer

Nathan Pyle, who became an internet sensation with his enchanting webcomic, has stepped into the role of an executive producer for the series. Co-creator and executive producer of the series, Dan Harmon, is recognized for his involvement in celebrated shows like Rick and Morty and Community.

Apple Studios offers an intriguing summary of the series as a humorous and insightful examination of a world strikingly akin to ours. The world is populated by blue entities that view human traditions and customs with an air of bewilderment. The entire series is bathed in an alluring aesthetic of soft pastel shades, adding to its distinct charm.

The story of Strange Planet revolves around vivacious, big-eyed blue “entities” hailing from a planet eerily similar to Earth. Their narration of experiences resembling human activities unveils the peculiarities of existence.

Pyle’s unique storytelling has successfully ignited the audience’s imagination, resulting in two published books and a booming social media presence with regular comic updates. Strange Planet serves as Dan Harmon’s latest creative pursuit following the release of Krapopolis, a Fox animation comedy series.

Stellar Cast and Experienced Production Team

A brilliant voice cast is set to animate the comic characters on the small screen. The lineup features Tunde Adebimpe, social media influencer Demi Adejuyigbe, Lori Tan Chinn known from Orange Is the New Black, Danny Pudi from Community, and Hannah Einbinder. The executive production team comprises a blend of industry stalwarts, including Corey Campodonico from BoJack Horseman for ShadowMachine, Over the Garden Wall’s producer Amalia Levari, Academy Award winner Alex Bulkley, Steve Levy from Rick and Morty, and Lauren Pomerantz from Saturday Night Live.

A Fresh Addition to Apple TV+

Strange Planet enriches the varied library of Apple TV+, home to acclaimed series like Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, The Afterparty, Five Days at Memorial, The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray, and The Mosquito Coast. Apple TV+ recently broadcasted the Season 1 finale of its well-received science fiction dystopian drama series, Silo.

With the eagerly awaited debut of Strange Planet, Apple TV+ is primed to solidify its status as a formidable contender in the digital streaming cosmos, consistently presenting unique and engaging content to its viewers.

In conclusion, the arrival of Strange Planet on Apple TV+ signifies the platform’s commitment to diversifying its content range. This whimsical animation series, based on Nathan Pyle’s famous webcomic, is expected to captivate the platform’s global audience with its unique charm and thought-provoking narratives, thus further enhancing Apple TV+’s standing in the competitive realm of digital streaming.
